Loving Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather

Stephen F. Imerese, Jr., 90, of Niagara Falls, NY went into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by his family, on Monday August 27, 2012 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Born and educated in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Stephen and Victoria Rose (Vittorella) Imerese, Sr.

During World War II, he served under General George Patton, as Technician Fifth Grade in the United States Army from January 19, 1943 until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1946, and received Good Conduct, American Service, WWII Victory, and European African Middle Eastern Service Medals in recognition of his service. On December 14, 1946 he married Mona G. (Scaletta) Imerese in Warren, PA. Mrs. Imerese predeceased him on December 27, 2005. In 1957, they moved to Niagara Falls, NY, where Stephen worked for A & P Markets and Great Bear Markets. He later worked for thirty-five years at Tops Market and retired as produce manager in 1981. He enjoyed travel, and gardening. Steve volunteered at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility, and was an active member of the YMCA and the John Duke Senior Center, both in Niagara Falls, NY. Stephen centered his life on his family and was a special person who touched everyone with his gentle and warm personality.

Mr. Imerese is survived by his five children, Stephen J. (Donna) Imerese, III of Niagara Falls, NY, Gerald C. (Laura) Imerese of Lewiston, NY, Terri A. (Richard) Sorg of Niagara Falls, NY, Paul (Joy) Imerese of Wheatfield, NY, and Victoria R. (James) Shank of Niagara Falls, NY; twenty-three grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother Salvatore (Frances) Imerese of Cheektowaga, NY, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandson, Stephen Michael Imerese, IV and his granddaughter, Monica Jo Harvey. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Anthony (late Terry) Imerese, Pauline (late Otto) Ducato, Josephine (late Anthony) Sunzeri, Joseph (late Lucy) Imerese, James (late Dorothy) Imerese, Lena (late John) Perna, Philip (late Lola) Imerese, Angeline (late James) Comito, and Marie (late Joseph) Vitale.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin Thursday August 30th at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th St. and Independence Ave., Niagara Falls, NY, with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, OSFS, officiating. Interment with military honors in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Schoellkopf Health Care Facility Activities Department, 621 10th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14302 or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
