Obituary

Steven F. Lipajic, 84 of Lewiston, NY, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Friday February 25, 2011 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Subotica, Yugoslavia, he was the son of the late Frank and Maria (Ilankovic) Lipajic.

Steven was raised and educated in Yugoslavia. He served in the Yugoslavian Army during World War II, and worked as a millwright for the railroads. In 1968, he immigrated to the United States and settled in the Niagara Falls area. He continued to work as a millwright for General Motors Co. in Tonawanda, NY and retired in 1992 after twenty two years of service. Steven was a member of the Bratskasloga Serbian Club in North Tonawanda, NY. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. Steven was a car enthusiast, and also took great pleasure in gardening and feeding birds. Above all he enjoyed spending time with family, particularly his grandchildren.

Mr. Lipajic was predeceased by his wife Maria A. (Velicki) Lipajic in 2000. He is survived by his daughter Edith (Lajos) Szabo of Lewiston, NY, three grandchildren, Frank (Dianna) Kumi, Robert (Michelle) Szabo and Vilmos Szabo, seven great-grandchildren, Joshua and Virginia Kumi, Nathan, Zachary and Adam Szabo, Zoltan and Vilmos Szabo.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Tuesday March 1st at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ivan Skenderovic officiating. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorials may be made to any organization committed to cancer research.
