Suren Mooradian, 91, formerly of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving daughter and grandchildren on Friday October 30, 2015 at Brothers of Mercy Nursing Center in Clarence, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Boghos and Nazelie (Garabedian) Mooradian.
Suren attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On April 7, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during World War II as a 319th Glider F.A. Battalion until his honorable discharge on January 18, 1946. He married Violet (Bagdasarian) Mooradian at St. Thomas Church in St. Catharines, Ontario on October 26, 1946. She later passed away on November 2, 2014, after 69 beautiful years together.
Mr. Mooradian was employed as a rocket technician at the former Bell Aircraft Corp. for over 40 years until his retirement in October of 1991. He was a longtime member of St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation both in Niagara Falls. He was also a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where he was baptized. Suren was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling but above all, his life was devoted and dedicated to being with his family.
Mr. Mooradian is survived by his daughter, Lisa Lauricella of Clarence Center, NY; four grandchildren, Nicole Lauricella, Sydney Lauricella, Zachary Lauricella and Cameron Lauricella, as well as his cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sadie Mooradian and Dorothy Mooradian.
There will be no prior visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. A memorial service will be announced at a later date and time. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 322 Ninth Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
