Loving Mother and Nannie

Susie Oswald, 84, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away Tuesday December 16, 2014 at St. Francis Home in Williamsville, NY. She was the daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Gugino) Sclafani.

Born in Rochester, NY, Susie moved with her family to Niagara Falls in 1941. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1948, and continued to be active with her class reunion committee. Susie worked as a secretary and accountant for Phelps, Gray, Mansour and Hewitt in Niagara Falls, NY; and then as an insurance agent for United Insurance Agency in Niagara Falls, NY until her retirement in 2000. Susie was a member of Reunited Seniors in Niagara Falls, NY and was a longtime volunteer at Artpark in Lewiston, NY. She was a former member of the Children of Mary Sodality and very active with the Food Outreach Program, both at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. For over ten years, Susie knitted hats for the newborns at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and was a supporter of "Coats for Kids" program sponsored by Capitol Cleaners of Niagara Falls.

Mrs. Oswald was predeceased by her husband, J. Robert Oswald on September 24, 1981. She is survived by her two children, Anthony C. (Lynn) Oswald and Rosanne (Roger, Jr.) Hillman, both of Wheatfield, NY; five grandchildren, Eric (Lindsay), Alicia, Sarah, Kayla, and Patrick; and many cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Ann (Anthony of N. Olmstead, OH) Silvaggi.

Visitation will be Monday 3 – 8 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Tuesday December 23rd at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine. Ave. Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Duane R. Klizek officiating. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY
