Obituary

Tana Migliazzo, 97, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, just two days shy of her 98th birthday.

Born in Caltavuturo, Palermo, Sicily, she was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Ruggirello) Chiappone. Tana immigrated to the United States with her family in 1947, bringing with her the warmth and traditions of her Sicilian heritage. On October 20, 1957, she married Joseph Migliazzo at St. Joseph Church.  Her husband predeceased her on January 20, 1979.

Tana was employed at the former Palace Laundry, worked as a seamstress for Briglio Furs, and in the Inspection Department at Carborundum Company, all in Niagara Falls. Her faith, family and community were central to her life. She was a proud and devout Catholic. Until just a few years ago, she attended Mass daily. She prayed constantly, saying the rosary several times a day. She was very devoted to Our Lady and the Saints. Tana was often called upon by family and friends to pray for them. She praised God for always hearing her and answering her prayers and everyone knew how powerful her prayers were. Even in her very painful times, she would always say, "God is so good to me, I am so blessed." She knew God's love and spread His message and her faith to all. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, where she was a member of the Madonna Perpetuo Del Soccorso Society and Anime Sante Del Purgatorio Society. She also was a longtime parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church, participating in the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary Society, and was a devoted member of the Our Lady of Fatima Society at Fatima Shrine.

She enjoyed membership in the Cristoforo Colombo Society Ladies Auxiliary and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America Cataract Lodge. She volunteered at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility and was a proud member of the Red Hatters Society.

Tana was truly gifted with her skills of sewing, knitting and crocheting. Her works were masterpieces adored by all. One of her true passions was cooking and baking for family and friends. She was especially known for her homemade bread and homemade Italian cookies. She welcomed everyone into her home and those times are treasured memories by everyone who knew her.

Tana is survived by her loving children, Rose Marie Migliazzo (fiancé Marshall Rice) and JoAnne Buzzeo; cherished grandchildren, Matthew Buzzeo and Christopher Buzzeo (fiancée Andrea Orr); siblings Domenico "Albert" (late Dorothy) Chiappone and Anthony (Sally) Chiappone; her Goddaughter, Virginia Chiappone; and brother-in-law Domenic "Butch" Migliazzo; nieces Diane Ziegler, Carol Kajfasz, Donna Antonacci; nephews Joseph "Joe" Chiappone, Joseph "Joey" Chiappone, Frank Migliazzo, Anthony Migliazzo; many cousins and friends. She is also survived by her special friends Michael and Loretta Nappo, Joseph and Molly Butera, Mary Ortiz, Lucy Ward, Linda Danovskis, and LouAnn Lucsok.  She was predeceased by her angelic son Donald, her brother Pat (late Nancy) Chiappone, her best friend and sister in heart Rose Santarosa; brothers-in-law James (late Olive) Migliazzo, Frank (late Virginia) Migliazzo, Anthony Migliazzo, John Migliazzo; and nephew David Migliazzo.

To honor Tana's life of devotion to her faith, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 12 Noon at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.  Everyone please assemble at church.
