Tanis S. Bridges, 79, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on September 11, 2024 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Facility in Lewiston, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank B. (late Eleanore) Barnes, and the late Alberta Barnes.

Tany Wanny, as she was affectionately known as to family and friends, was a 1963 graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  She went on to earn her Associate's Degree in Nursing from St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Niagara Falls, NY.  She was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Former St. Mary's Hospital in Niagara Falls, NY in the Pediatric Unit.  Tanis then worked at the Gowanda Hospital in Gowanda, NY, in the Psychiatric Department before moving on to Bellevue Hospital in New York City where she was employed in the same capacity in the Medical, Surgical, and Pediatrics departments.  In 1972, she moved to California as a member of the Visiting Nurses Association, working at various hospitals in San Francisco, CA, Lake Merritt, CA, Oakland, CA, and Napa, CA.  Tanis then returned closer to home, working at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY as a Registered Nurse, before returning to Niagara Falls permanently in 2007 to retire.

Tanis enjoyed shopping, traveling, going to the theatre, and collecting artwork and dolls.  In addition, she was an avid reader and gardener, and loved growing orchids and roses.  An animal lover, she enjoyed the company of her dogs, who were her constant companions.

Tanis is survived by a host of close family spanning from New York, to Georgia and Florida.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Terrance 'Terry' Barnes and Michelle Bekele.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 5 at 11 AM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 3118 Hyde Park Boulevard, Niagara Falls, NY 14305 with Rev. John H.
