Ted Mendelsohn, 85, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Health Care Facility in Lewiston, NY. Born in Bradford, PA he was the son of the late Herman and Ruth (Oppenheim) Mendelsohn.
Ted came to Niagara Falls at the age of seven with his family. He graduated from Niagara Falls High School and during the Korean War he served in the U.S. Air Force. Ted was employed by the New York State Power Authority in Lewiston, NY and retired as an assistant foreman in 1991 after thirty one years of service. He was a member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club in the Town of Niagara.
Ted was predeceased by his wife Frances M. "Pina" (Fiorello) Mendelsohn on April 4, 2011. He is survived by his son Christopher (Bernice) Baldassarre of Youngstown, NY; two grandchildren Carina (Joseph) Webber of Youngstown, NY and Christopher (Kate) Baldassarre II of Lewiston, NY; his nieces Donna (Dante) Cipollitti, Gloria (Carl) Albion, Sharyn (Rocco) Pendola and Nancy Sorice as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held on Friday, August 28th at 11:00 a.m. with Rabbi Ellen Franke officiating. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094 or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
