Obituary

Tommaso Chiarella, 90, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2020. Born in Gimigliano, Calabria, Italy, he was the son of the late Luigi and Rosa (Pascente) Chiarella.

Tom immigrated to Canada in 1957 and later married Barbara A. (Martin) Chiarella on January 19, 1963 in Niagara Falls. Following his marriage, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Niagara Falls where he and Barbara began to raise their four children.

Tommaso was employed for over 29 years at Harrison Radiator as a model maker and tool and die machinist until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Club Italia in Niagara Falls, Ontario. He was a master of many talents.  A wood worker, he enjoyed making toys and items for his friends and family. He also was a bee keeper and took great pride in selling his honey for many years. Tom enjoyed photography, was an avid fruit and vegetable gardener, and especially loved making wine and soppressata.

Above all, Tommaso was devoted to his family, his greatest love.  There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for them.  He looked forward to the many gatherings with friends and family, who will remember him for his smile and generosity, especially when in need.  Tom loved the Lord and singing songs of praise and worship.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, Mr. Chiarella is survived by four children, Louis A. (Carrie) Chiarella, Thomas (Sharon) Chiarella, Francesco "Frank" (Lorianne) Chiarella and Paul C. (Amy) Chiarella; ten grandchildren, Mary, Grace (fiancé Erik), Hannah, Isabel, Jenna, Olivia, Kathleen, John "Jack", Molly, and Maxwell; his siblings, Domenic (Savina) Chiarella, Teresa (late Saverio) Pascente, Antonio (Gina) Chiarella, Ida (late Alberto) Mete, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings Maria Stella (late Angelo) Trapasso, Giuseppina (late Franco) Facciolo, Maria Chiarella, and Saverio Chiarella.

Due to recent circumstances, funeral services with Entombment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held privately for the family. Memorial offerings may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 6215 Sheridan Drive #100, Buffalo, NY 14221.  Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL.
