Tony Douglas Gildersleeve, 59, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on March 3, 2026, one day shy of his 60th birthday. Born in Vineland, AL, he was the son of the late Leo and Georgia (Coates) Gildersleeve.

Tony grew up in Alabama, where he graduated from Marango High School in Dixons Mills, AL and built a life around his natural talent for mechanics. A self employed auto mechanic for many years, he took great pride in his ability to repair and restore vehicles of all kinds. Tony also enjoyed fishing and hunting. In the mid 1990s, he relocated to Niagara Falls, NY, where he worked with several lawn service companies. No matter where life took him, his passion for working on cars remained constant and deeply rooted.

Tony is survived by his son, Tony (Angela) Gildersleeve, Jr.; one grandson, Kyson Gildersleeve, four granddaughters, Tyriah Gildersleeve, Taliyah Smiley, Taniyah Gildersleeve, and Kinsley Allen; his siblings, Catherine (Clovese Jr.) Snowden, Leo Gildersleeve, Paula Pritchett, and Corine (Opal) Smith. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will miss his presence and his quiet, steady spirit. He was formerly married to Tony Jr.’s mother, Belinda Little.

He was predeceased by his siblings Vera, Jane, Elaine, Leon, James, Mary, and Paul.
