Valentine 'Val' "Ishkhanian" (Kishmoian) Kasparian, 74, of Lewiston NY died on Monday February 23, 2009 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Vahan and Filiane (Kupeyan) Kishmoian.
Val, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On May 26, 1956 she married Hagop 'Harry' "Ishkhanian" Kasparian in Niagara Falls, NY. She was a member of the Armenian Relief Society Lucia Chapter of Niagara Falls for over fifty years and a devoted member of St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church for over fifty years as well. In her leisure time, Val enjoyed completing word search puzzles and going to the Summit Park Mall in Wheatfield to visit with her friends.
In addition to her husband of fifty two years, Mrs. Kasparian is survived by four children Georgette Otabachian, Kevork Kasparian, Mihran Kasparian all of Lewiston, NY and Anna (Eric) Brunelle of Tampa, FL; five grandchildren Haroutig Otabachian, Hagop Otabachian, Jimmy Hanner, Erica Hanner, Rebekah Brunelle and was predeceased by one granddaughter Nicole Marie Hanner. Survivors also include one brother Michael (Lillian) Kishmoian of Laguna Niguel, CA; three sisters Rose (late Herman) Capp of Euless, TX; Sylvia (Albert) Choolokian of Niagara Falls, NY and Marge (Frank) Serio of North Tonawanda, NY. She was the sister-in-law of Arch Priest Der Armen Ishkhanian and Shake Ishkhanian and is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Val was predeceased by one brother Joseph Kishmoian.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A funeral service will be held on Thursday February 26th at 10 a.m. in St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 322 9th Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Arch Priest Der Armen Ishkhanian officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. A prayer service will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Hagop Armenian Apostolic Church, 322 9th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303.
