Varso Giandomenico, 86, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on September 3, 2020 at Northgate Health Care Facility.  Born in Secinaro, Province of Abruzzo, Italy, he was the son of the late Giampasquale 'Patsy' and Anita (Palombella) Giandomenico.

Varso immigrated to the United States with his family in 1947. Just 13 years old, he immediately started working at a lumber company and setting pins at a local bowling alley.  He proudly served in the United States Army in Munich, Germany from 1957 until his honorable discharge in 1958, later serving in the Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1963.

On September 16, 1967, he married Catherine E. 'Bridget' (Munro) Giandomenico at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.  Mrs. Giandomenico predeceased him on April 23, 1998.  Varso was employed by the International Paper Mill, Bell Aerospace, and at Carborundum Abrasives as a Foreman, working there for over 35 years until his retirement in 1999.

Varso was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Society, the Carborundum 100 Club, as well as local golf and bowling leagues.  In his younger days he played in local men's soccer leagues. He enjoyed keeping up with current events, road trips and classical music, especially Italian operas, but above all, his life centered around his family.

Varso is survived by his children, Gian P. (Lisa) Giandomenico and Anita M. (Bruno) DiBella; his grandchildren, Zoe, Phoebe, and Andrew Giandomenico, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his wife of 30 years, he was predeceased by his siblings, Dalia (late Rico) DeSimone, Venilia (late Thomas) Marquez, and Emilio Giandomenico.

Private funeral services and interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family.  A Memorial Mass will be held at a future date and time to be announced.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to Youth Mentoring Services of Niagara County, 86 Park Ave, Lockport, NY 14094 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.  Arrangements by M.J.
