Vern E. Mardirosian, 82, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Thursday April 23, 2009 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Sarkis and Alice (Sherenian) Mardirosian.
Vern, a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946. A well known bar and restaurateur, Vern co-owned several local businesses including The Turf Bar, Jackson's Bar, The Harmony Lounge, Pine Plaza Coffee Shop and also owned The Towne Bar and the former El Sombrero. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge and in his leisure time, he enjoyed playing the piano and writing music, especially ballads. Vern also loved the real estate trade.
Mr. Mardirosian is survived by two children Randy of Niagara Falls, NY and Joseph (Susan) of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren Jolina and Jagger, two sisters and one brother Civa (late Arthur) Schurr of Niagara Falls, NY; Leo (Martha) Mardirosian and Helen (Oscar) Flinchum both of Youngstown, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother Arshag 'Hawk' (Esther of California) Sokasian.
Friends may call on Tuesday May 26th from 11 am – 12:30 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where services will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Fleming officiating.
