Obituary

Vincent James ("Jim") Bifano age 75, of Lewiston, NY passed away peacefully under the tender loving care of his family and the staff at Niagara Hospice House on April 24, 2009.

Mr. Bifano was born in Bradford, PA and moved with his parents, the late Charles and Laura (Longo) Bifano, to Niagara Falls at a young age where he attended local schools. Following his retirement from DuPont he moved to Las Vegas where he resided until 2007. In addition to his employment at DuPont, he was a bartender at several local restaurants. In Las Vegas, Jim served several terms as President of the Board of Directors of the Homeowners Association in his community and was always involved in helping his neighbors. He loved walking, swimming and all kinds of music, especially jazz, Sinatra, and the big bands of the 40's. He was an avid sports fan and his favorite team, from the time he was a young boy listening on the radio with his father and uncles, was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. In later years, he attended home football games with his family and friends at the University of Notre Dame.

Mr. Bifano leaves to cherish the memories they made his loving wife, Carole (Darby) Bifano. He is also survived by his beloved children, Laura Nowak of Lewiston, NY; Dora (Jameel) Poshni of Mississauga, Ontario and Charles Bifano of the town of Niagara, NY. Also surviving are his eight grand children which were his pride and joy. To them he was their "Pa" – Nathan, son of Laura; Jill, Frank, Lisa, Brittany and Michael, children of Dora; and Charles and Samantha, children of Charles. Also left to mourn their loss are his loving brother, Anthony (Marguerite) Bifano; his mother-in-law, Kathleen (late George) Darby; his sister in law, Linda (late Paul, Sr.) Facklam, Grand Island, NY and Cheryl (Darrell) Ingles of St. Catharines, Ontario; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Bifano was the former husband of Maria (Luciani) Bifano, the mother of his children. Jim's greatest legacy to his children and grand children was teaching them the importance of maintaining the closeness and love of the family. Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the M.J.
