Vincent J. Laurendi, 86, of Lewiston, NY died on Wednesday December 8, 2010 at Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Carmelo "Carmen" and Vienna (Granto) Laurendi.

Vince attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He served in the United States Army from February 17, 1943 until his honorable discharge on January 31, 1946. During his duty, he received the American Theater Ribbon, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. On May 23, 1953 he married Joan (Hilton) Laurendi at St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Vince was a co-founder and instrumental in developing cable television in the Niagara Region which included STV, Niagara Frontier Cable and later Adelphia Cable. He also had partnerships in the cable industry in Key Biscayne, Florida. Prior to that he was a salesman for Taibi Brothers and a sales manager for Simon Oil Co. both in Niagara Falls, NY.

Vince made many significant contributions to the local community, and was instrumental in turning the Firefighters Toy Fund into an annual telethon. He was also a loyal supporter of the Pine Avenue Business Association and a longtime member and served on the Board of Directors of the Y.M.C.A. in Niagara Falls where he enjoyed exercising with his many friends. An avid golfer, he was also a member of the Niagara Frontier Country Club in Youngstown, NY. Vince's dedication and service to the community were recognized with numerous awards throughout his lifetime. Vince also enjoyed fishing with his family and spending time with them particularly his grandchildren. He had an unending support of his sons and grandchildren in various activities.

In addition to his wife of fifty seven years, Vince is survived by two sons Vincent (Lori) Laurendi and Thomas (Debbie) Laurendi both of Lewiston, NY; five grandchildren Vincent, Anthony and Joseph Laurendi; Marina and Michael Laurendi and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers Mary (late Anthony) Princevalle, Frank (late Josephine) Laurendi, John (Armenia of Niagara Falls, NY) Laurendi, Ann (James of Niagara Falls, NY) Infantino and Peter Laurendi.

Friends may call on Saturday from 4 – 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. On Monday December 13th at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peters Church, 620 Center Street, Lewiston NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierro officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHUCH. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Niagara Falls YMCA, 1317 Portage Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14301.
