Obituary

Vincent J. Pallaci, 83 of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Sunday February 6, 2011 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Ross and Mary (Vaccarella) Pallaci.

Vincent was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area. He attended local schools and graduated from the former Trott Vocational High School in 1945. In 1947 he graduated from Kelly Business Institute, and later attended Niagara University, Niagara County Community College and from 1985 through 1996, tax practitioner courses at the University of Buffalo. Vince served in the United States Navy during the later part of World War II aboard the USS New Kent. On October 16, 1950 he married Rachel J. (Beretta) Pallaci at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls.

Vince was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Niagara Falls where he held various management positions in purchasing, personnel and employee training. He retired on April 1, 1987 after thirty four years of service. During that time he had also served as a charter member and first president of the Goodyear Niagara Federal Credit Union and president of the Goodyear Activities Association. Vince also practiced as a certified tax consultant and notary public.

Mr. Pallaci was current and active member of St. Peter's Church in Lewiston where he served as an usher, member of the Holy Name Society and past president of their St. Vincent de Paul Society, Throughout his life, Vince was actively involved in numerous community organizations which included, Cubmaster of Cub Pack 36 at St. Joseph's Church in Niagara Falls. He served on the Catholic Committee on Scouting, and in 1963, earned the Scouters Key Award. In 1973, Vince was appointed to the City of Niagara Falls Pollutant Board and was instrumental in reintroducing ducks back into Gill Creek and Hyde Park Lake. He was a moderator at Niagara University for a conference on air pollution, as a member of District 8 Chemical and Atomic Workers. Vince served as past president of Niagara Senior Social and Travel Club, he was also a member of the First Friday Club, American Legion, Italian American War Veterans, the Italian Sons and Daughter of America Cataract Lodge, Retired Men's Service Club of Niagara Frontier, and 3rd Degree and life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 247. Vince was an avid golfer and lifetime member of the PGA. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of sixty years, Mr. Pallaci is survived by four sons, Joseph R. (MaryLouise) Pallaci, James M. (Anne Smith) Pallaci, John D. (Patricia) Pallaci, and Frank V. (Maria Reele) Pallaci all of Niagara Falls, NY, twelve grandchildren, Dr. Michael (Denise) Pallaci, Tiffany Pallaci, Karen (Billy) Smith, Vincent (Felicia) Pallaci, Amber Pallaci, Joseph V. (fiancé Katie) Pallaci, Vincent T. (Adriana) Pallaci, Chantel Pallaci, Anthony (Kelly) Pallaci, Ashley Pallaci, Matthew Pallaci and Adrianna Pallaci, fourteen great-grandchildren, one sister Marie (Donald) Donahue of Amherst, NY, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI AND SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will begin on Thursday February 10th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Church 620 Center Street Lewiston, NY with Rev. Sebastian Pierre officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery Niagara Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Peter's Church 620 Center St. Lewiston, NY 14092 or Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
