Vincent Porto, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 15, 2021 in Buffalo General Hospital. Born in Belmonte Calabro, Province of Cosenza, Italy, he was the son of the late Mercurio and Rosa Porto.
Vincent was raised in Italy, where he served in the Italian Army, and married the love of his life, Rosa Porto on April 28, 1951. They later immigrated to the United States and settled in Niagara Falls until the present time. Vincent was employed by the Niagara Falls Board of Education for many years until his retirement in 1993.
Mr. Porto was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church. He enjoyed playing Bocce, tending to his garden, making his famous soppressata and homemade wine. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of 69 years, Vincent is survived by his children, Mickey (Kathy) Porto, MaryAnn (Cesare) Forgione and Anthony (Elaine) Porto; his beloved grandchildren, Eileen (David) Pacana, Marcy (Chris) Falzone, Michael Porto, Nicolette Porto and Gabrielle Porto; his adored great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Evan and Meghan Pacana and Eliana Falzone. He is also survived by his special nephew, John Porto, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins throughout Canada, Italy and Argentina. He was predeceased by two brothers, Giuseppe and Antonio, and two sisters, Maria and Domenica.
Private visitation for Vincent's family will be held on Saturday, February 20 from 9 - 10:15 A.M., at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.
Vincent's family will be present from 11 - 12 Noon on Saturday in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY, where Vincent's Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 Noon. Private Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Porto's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the DaVita Dialysis Center for the compassion and care provided to Vincent. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Kidney Foundation of WNY, 4444 Bryant and Stratton Way, Williamsville, NY 14221, the Niagara County S.P.C.A 2100 Lockport Rd, Niagara Falls, NY 14304 or to Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church.
