Obituary
Viola L. (Malvestuto) Gigliotti, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Wednesday January 20, 2010 at Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Nunziata (Rannalli) Malvestuto.
Viola was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY and attended local schools. On February 10, 1934 she married Vincent J. Gigliotti in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Gigliotti predeceased her on July 3, 1969. During World War II Viola worked at Bell Aircraft and later at Union Carbide Corp. both in Niagara Falls, NY. For many years, she worked as a self employed beautician in Niagara Falls. Viola was a member of the Power City Lodge and Cristoforo Colombo Society Women's Auxiliary in Niagara Falls. She enjoyed cooking and baking and earned the self proclaimed reputation of "no one ever went hungry at Vi's". She also liked gardening, sewing and crafts, but her greatest joy was being with her family.
Viola is survived by her two children, Sarah E. (Anthony) DeLabio, Jr. and Vincent F. (Lisa) Gigliotti both of Niagara Falls, NY; five grandchildren, Anita (Chris) Scrivano, Anthony DeLabio, Nicole (Dave Maxwell) Gigliotti, Stacy (Peter) Seefeldt-Burger and Justin (Danielle) Seefeldt, two great- grandchildren, Sarah Scrivano and Vincent Kirby, one sister, Rose (late Ellis) George and one brother Victor Malvestuto both of Niagara Falls, NY, her special friend Frank Travasano, as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by four sisters and four brothers, Lucy (late Guy) Colangelo, Dominick Malvestuto, Martha (late Charles) Amato, Helen (late Anthony) Munzi, Sam (Mary of Niagara Falls, NY) Malvestuto, James (Frances of Niagara Falls, NY) Malvestuto, Albert Malvestuto and Lillian Zimmerman.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 – 8 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday January 23rd at 9:30 a.m. in St. John De LaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. EVERYONE WILL ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
