Violet T. (Capolupo) Mastromatteo, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Monday May 16, 2011 at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY. Born in Trafford, PA she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Domenica (Forlano) Capolupo.
On June 23, 1945 Violet married Patsy Mastromatteo in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Mastromatteo predeceased her on October 24, 2008. During World War II she worked at Bell Aircraft in Wheatfield, NY. She also worked at Warder Paper Box Co. and at Tops Supermarket on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls. Vi, as she was known to friends and family, lived in Florida for thirty years before returning to Niagara Falls in 2007 where she currently resided. While living in Florida she was a very active member of the Sons of Italy in Lakeworth, FL and was awarded Woman of the Year recognition from them. She celebrated the Mass of the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on August 15th for the past 50 years which has been a longtime family tradition. Vi's patron saint was St. Anthony and she held a yearly gathering at her home where she would collect funds which were donated to the St. Anthony Orphanage in Italy.
Vi is survived by one son Stanley (Margaret) Carbone, Jr. of Niagara Falls, NY; two grandchildren Annette Carbone and Vincent Carbone, four great grandchildren Robert G. Perry, Dustin A. Perry, Liana L. Carbone and Zachary V. Carbone, one brother Sam (late Genevieve) Capolupo of Lewiston, NY; her brother-in-law August Mastro of Niagara Falls, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by five sisters and one brother Mary (late Jasper) LaScala, Clementine (late Donald) Malizia, Evelyn (late Nick) Arena, John (late Lena) Capolupo, Edith (late Frank) Perno and Lena (late Mario) Masocco.
Visitation will be on Wednesday May 18th from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday May 19th at 10 a.m. at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev.
