Virginia Rose Mooradian, 77 of Youngstown, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday September 5, 2009 in Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY after a courageous fight with cancer. Born September 15, 1931 in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Sadie (Toofangjian) Markarian. She lived in Niagara Falls before moving to Youngstown in 1970.
Virginia is survived by her husband of fifty seven years, Anthony Mooradian Sr., with whom she worked for many years at Mooradian Rug Co. in Niagara Falls, NY as an office manager, bookkeeper, and in sales and purchasing. She loved traveling, dancing and sewing, and was an accomplished cook and baker, who enjoyed nothing better than entertaining her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mooradian is survived by her four children, Donna (John) Hansen of Burke, VA, Anthony (Karen) Mooradian, Jr. of Lewiston, NY, Sandra (David) Cedar of Sayville, Long Island and Thomas (Linda) Mooradian of Lewiston, NY, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Ann (late Richard) Cannon of St. Petersburg, FL, Shirley (David) Gamboian of Lewiston, NY, two brothers, Edward (late Jasmine) Markarian and Ralph (Rose) Markarian both of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one brother Marvin (Elva of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada) Markarian.
There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday September 8, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church 218 Hinman St. Youngstown, NY with Msgr. J. Thomas Moran officiating. Interment will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery Youngstown, NY.
