lol It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virgle Humphrey, a father, beloved brother, cherished uncle, loyal friend, and respected member of the Niagara Falls community.
Virgle Humphrey was born on February 10, 1941, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to the late Willie Lee Humphrey and Mattie Lois (Sanders) Humphrey. In 1947, as a young child, he relocated with his family to Niagara Falls, New York, where he was raised and would spend the majority of his life building lasting friendships, and becoming a well known and respected member of the community.
Virgle lived a life full of adventure, generosity, and love for his family. He captivated others with stories of fishing trips, traveling with the circus, riding the gambling train, and many other experiences. His larger-than-life personality left lasting memories for all who knew him.
Above all, Virgle was a family man. His love and loyalty were unwavering, and his strength, humor, and protective spirit will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
He proudly served the City of Niagara Falls Sanitation Department and gave back through volunteer work at Harry F. Abate Elementary School, where he received the Golden Apple Award. He also volunteered with the Salvation Army, local soup kitchens, and the Guardian Angels, leaving a lasting impact on his community.
Virgle had a passion for electronics and was known for building CB radios and creating unique projects. His curiosity, ingenuity, and sense of humor made him truly one of a kind.
Virgle was preceded in death by his siblings Deloise Ashford, Diane Humphrey, Patrick Humphrey, and Pauline Roland.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Tracy Vincent (Gregory), Marsha Humphrey, and Beth Humphrey Traylor (Jermaine).
He is also survived by his siblings: James Humphrey, Janice Hollis, Dennis Humphrey, Phyllis Humphrey, Crystal Chandler, Steven Humphrey, Annette Robinson, Elizabeth Payton Rollins (Brent), Luther Humphrey (Cynthia), and April Sims.
He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Jazlyn Porter, Warren Vincent, Kingston Vincent, Micquel Humphrey, Courtney Herbert, Cassiah Herbert, Alvin King, and Monique King, as well as his great-grandchildren: Winona Vincent, Sylis Vincent, and Sylo Vincent.
He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing his love and spirit live on in each of us. His legacy of love, loyalty, service, and unforgettable stories will continue for generations to come.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 10 from 4 - 7 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where homegoing services will follow at 7:00 PM. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
