Dr. Wadi Bshara, MD, PhD, age 87, of Amherst, NY passed away at his residence on January 19, 2025. Born in Al-Rowda, Syria he was the son of the late Boutros and Melia (Ajamian) Bshara. He was the beloved husband for 55 years of Daad "Jackie" (Ajamian) Bshara.
Dr. Bshara received his medical degree and training in Germany where he obtained his MD, PhD in Medicine and practiced Internal Medicine and Cardiology for multiple years. He returned to Syria in 1974 and started his own practice in Lattakia where he worked until his retirement in 2004. Shortly after his retirement he immigrated to the United States to be with his children who were already there seeking higher education.
Dr. Bshara was a devoted family man who centered his life around his family and loved spending time with them, especially during holidays and special occasions. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed reading and learning about history and cultures around the world. He always liked listening to classical music especially master pieces composed by Beethoven, Bach and Strauss. He had a special appreciation of the outdoors beginning at a young age and he enjoyed taking his family for long walks in nature.
In addition to his wife, Dr. Bshara is survived by his children Dr. Wiam (Kristine) Bshara, Dr. Neirouz (Raymond) Joseph, and Razan Bshara as well as his grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Alexander Joseph and Adam Bshara. He was the brother of Antoinette (late Milad) Bshara, late Tony (Badeha) Bshara, Late Vigaan (Susanne) Bshara and late Wadeha (late Antoon) Batbouta. He also is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Syria.
Visitation will be on Friday January 24, from 4-8 PM at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14305, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Memorial offerings in Dr. Bshara's name may be made to St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church. Arrangements by M. J.
