Walter G. Kraft, 77 of Lewiston. NY, passed away on Sunday August 8, 2010 in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY, where he held the distinction of being the first resident to enter the facility when it opened. Born on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation, he was the son of the late George and Nellie (Wilson) Kraft.

Walter served in the United States Navy from April 4, 1950 until his honorable discharge on February 24, 1954 where he received the National Defense Service Award, and the Navy Occupation Award. He then served in the United States Army from November 4, 1954 until his honorable discharge on September 18, 1955. Walter worked for various construction firms in Niagara Falls, NY. When Walt resided in Seminole, Florida he wrestled alligators with the Miccosukke Nation.

Mr. Kraft is survived by his children Freda Jo (John), Lisa, Nell Marie, Walter Jr., Randy, Kelly and was predeceased by one son Kristopher. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Ronald R. (Linda) Kraft, Freda (Carl ) Morris, Keith (Cindy) Kraft, George Kraft, Ernie (Cheryl) Kraft, Mary Lynn and Herbie (Cindy) Kraft, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Walter was also predeceased by two brothers, Maurice Kraft and Arnie Kraft.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will be held Wednesday August 11th at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Donald Robinson, officiating. Interment in Oakwood Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.
