Walter David Lutz, 79, of Youngstown, NY, passed away on February 28, 2026 at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Walter and Josephine Hilda (Morrison) Lutz.

David, as he was affectionately known by his family, was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. He served proudly in the United States Air Force from 1966 until his honorable discharge in 1970, spending time in the Philippines. David was self-employed as a carpenter, and also worked as an Electrician in IEBW Local #237. He spent many years traveling and living in Texas and Mexico before returning home to the Niagara Falls area. 

A talented artist, he enjoyed drawing and sketching, completing carpentry projects for family and friends. David had a great love of dogs. Above all, he will be remembered as a beautiful man blessed with a free spirit and a good soul

Walter is survived by his companion of 40 years, Sharon Schofield; his sister, Linda (late Vince) Anello; his nieces, Maureen Sharrer, Patti McCullough, Traci (Eric Abel) Soluri and Vincenette Anello (Adrian) Adamus; nephews, Jim Barnett, Matthew Kirkey (Christina Marshall), Anthony (Bonnie) Soluri Jr. and Tommy Soluri; grandniece, Haley Abel and grandnephews, Cameron and Ryan Abel. He was predeceased by his sister Gerry (late Frank) Kirkey, and brother, Rollo D. Lutz. 

Per Walter’s wishes, there will be no prior visitation or funeral services. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls, Canada, will be held at the convenience of the family.
