William J. Bellegia, 93, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Friday July 23, 2010 at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late Julius and Maria (Marini) Bellegia.
William graduated from Niagara Falls High School and served in the United States Army during World War II. Following his honorable discharge, he owned and operated various area former businesses including the, Prospect House on Falls Street in Niagara Falls, Unit Step Co. and Martin's Motel both in Wheatfield, NY and Creekside Lanes in Amherst, NY. In 1978 he moved to Las Vegas, NV where he worked as a professional boxing judge into his late 80's. Earlier this year William returned to the Niagara Falls area where he currently resided. William was a member of the Optimists Club both in Niagara Falls and Las Vegas and in his younger days, he was an amateur boxer. William also worked as a bartender, held a small plane pilot license and in his leisure time enjoyed golfing. He took great pleasure in eating pasta, and especially enjoyed being with people. William will be remembered for his love of life and living it to the fullest.
Mr. Bellegia is survived by his children, Bambi Feuz of Niagara Falls, NY; Robin (Carl) Bishara of Lewiston, NY; William Bellegia and Billie Jo (Bob) Peters both of Las Vegas, NV, two step-children Carol Metro and Danny Fracassi both of Niagara Falls, NY; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Bellegia was also predeceased by his wives, Georgina, Beverly and Vera, one daughter Gloria (Joseph of Niagara Falls, NY) Marochi, two brothers Gino "Gene" (Anna Marie) Bellegia, Anthony (late Louise) Bellegia and one sister Rose Bellegia.
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services and entombment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY at the convenience of the family. Flowers are gratefully declined.
