William "Bill"
Glassner
d. Sep 3, 2026
William “Bill” Glassner, 83, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at Niagara Hospice House. Born in Lockport, NY, he was the son of the late Abraham and Beatrice (Williams) Glassner, and the beloved husband of Carol M. (Loverde) Glassner, whom he married on June 11, 1983.
Raised in Buffalo, Bill graduated from Lafayette High School before moving to Niagara Falls. He proudly served in the United States Army, where his exceptional musical talent led him to become a percussionist with the 84th Army Band, performing throughout Europe while serving his country.
Following his military service, Bill built a long career in sales at several well‑known furniture stores, beginning at Raymour & Flanagan’s, Anthone Furniture Company, Bassett Furniture, and later Extreme Discount Mattress.
Bill was an avid golfer, a longtime member of Niagara Frontier Golf Club and River Oaks, and a competitor who won numerous tournaments. He was an excellent bowler and recorded a perfect 300 during his time in the Army. Bill also enjoyed going to the movies and was known for his deep love of family—especially his adored grandchildren, who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Bill is survived by his children, William C. (Kelly) Glassner and Jason R. (Rachael) Glassner; his grandchildren, William C. Glassner, Jr., Jacob Glassner, Savannah Glassner, Charlotte Glassner, and Victoria Glassner; and his sister, Freda Honig. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his parents, Bill was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Campanella and their son, Danny Glassner, and his brother, Lester Glassner.
Funeral services with interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY, will be held privately for Bill’s family. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice at niagarahospice.org.
