William J. Lewis III, 72 of Niagara Falls, NY died on Saturday December 20, 2008 at Niagara Hospice in Lockport, NY. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of Hazel (Sivyour) Lewis of Queens, NY and the late William J. Lewis Jr. William attended St. John's University in New York where he earned his Masters Degree Education. On July 1, 1967, he married Eleanor G. (Bernhart) Lewis in Valley Stream, Long Island. She predeceased him on August 27, 2008.

William worked as an educator in Bellmore, NY where he taught English for thirty seven years. He was an avid outdoorsman and in his younger years volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Lewis is survived by one son Michael F. (Melinda Scime) Lewis of Niagara Falls, NY, his granddaughter Megan, and was predeceased by one son William J. Lewis IV.

Friends may call on Tuesday December 23rd from 4 – 7:30 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY where funeral services will follow at 7:30 p.m..
