William "Bill" J. Tegda, 85, of Lewiston, NY passed away on Saturday, January 14th, 2017. Born in Plains, PA he was the son of the late Joseph F. Tegda and Irene H. (Nemeth) Tegda.

Bill attended local schools and enlisted in the United States Navy Air Reserve in 1949, serving for over 6 years. He married his beloved wife, Irene (Tolmacs) Tegda, in 1954 at the St Catharines of Alexandria Cathedral in Ontario.

Bill started working in 1952 at DuPont Chemical Plant until 1972, when he began his successful career as an automobile salesman. He was employed at several local dealerships including Massaro-Russo Chevrolet. He was the recipient of the Top Salesman Award and many other awards throughout his career. Following his retirement from the dealership in 1996, he continued to stay active by touring for boat and bus companies in Niagara Falls. He was also very active with the Leo F. Heck Firefighters Toy Fund.

Mr. Tegda was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #247 and served as a Faithful Navigator. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending the winter season in North Palm Beach, Florida with his wife.

In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Helen (late Louie) Zaninovich, Stephen (Mary) Tolmacs, Pearl (John) Hiott; and was the cherished Uncle and godfather to many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his three siblings Joseph (Gina) Tegda, Rita (late Frank) Powell, Irene (late Hubert) Gee and his sister-in-law the late Elizabeth (late Val) Genova.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, January 18th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Peter's Church, 620 Center St. Lewiston, 14092. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to a charity of one's choice.
