William L. "Bill" Bierly, 69, of Niagara Falls, NY went to his heavenly home unexpectedly on Wednesday December 8, 2010 at Buffalo General Hospital, while surrounded by his family and after a long and courageous battle against heart disease and diabetes.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of the late William Joseph and Louise (Dobolewicz) Bierly. He graduated from Trott Vocational High School in 1959 and began his career at Hooker Chemical Co., later Occidental Chemical, from which he retired in 1999. While at Occidental he participated in Slo-Pitch softball and Industrial League Tennis for which he received numerous championship trophies. In 2004, Bill was named Outstanding Volunteer by the New York State Credit Union League. A credit union volunteer since 1989, Bill served as President of Niagara's Choice FCU for many years and was instrumental in the opening of two new branches in Niagara County.

He married his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Adna M. "Addie" (Hooper) Bierly on October 6, 1963 at Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY and was the proud father of Deborah (David) Piva of Lockport, NY, Carolyn (Jerry) McMahon of Pittsburgh, PA, and Sandra K. Bierly of Amherst, NY. The joys of his life are his two grandchildren Elliot and Claire McMahon of Pittsburgh, PA who recently enjoyed a wonderful vacation to Disney with Grampa. Bill is also survived by his sisters Mary (William) Alberts of Lewiston, NY, Dawn Gayle (Lester) Belger of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends Al Frosolone and Dave Matsulavage.

Visitation will be on Friday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY RD. NIAGARA FALLS, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday December 11th at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent de Paul Parish at St. Leo's Church, 2748 Military Rd, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Robert Stolinski officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH.
