William E. Mellan, 64, of Niagara Falls, NY died on Wednesday May 18, 2011 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY he was the son of Mary Jean (Kelly) Mellan of Niagara Falls, NY and the late William J. Mellan.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He attended local schools and graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls. On September 17, 1966 he married Carla J. (Lochren) Mellan. He was employed at Carborundum Co. and later at Washington Mills in Niagara Falls and retired in 2009 after more than forty years of service. William enjoyed both watching and playing golf and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. In his younger years he liked playing softball and basketball. Bill will be truly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife of forty four years and his mother, William is survived by six children William E. (Dawn) Mellan of Hudson, NY; Keith (Teresa) Mellan of Phoenix, AZ; Jeannine Scavo of Depew, NY; Charles Mellan of Syracuse, NY; Timothy (Cory) Mellan and Kimberley O'Grady both of Niagara Falls, NY; seven grandchildren Jonathan, Brenna, Cole, Isabelle, Samantha, Charles and Evan, three brothers Thomas (Judy) Mellan of Hillsdale, NY; Earl (late Betty) Mellan of Mexico, PA and Dennis (Jude) Mellan of Dallas, TX and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers Timothy Mellan and David (Heidi McBreen of Phoenix, AZ) Mellan.

There will be no prior visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday May 20th at 10 a.m. at St. John DeLaSalle Church, 8469 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Slawomir Siok, S.A.C. officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Parkway, Amherst, NY 14228.
