Willie Dykes, Jr. 76, of Niagara Falls, NY, affectionately known as Junior passed away peacefully at his residence on June 11, 2025. Born in New Albany, Mississippi, he was the beloved son of the late William "Red" Dykes and Gladys (Baldon) Dykes.
Willie graduated from high school in Mississippi before proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from March 24, 1969, until his honorable discharge on March 16, 1971. During his military service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Following his time in the Army, Willie made Niagara Falls his home. On August 31, 1991, he married the love of his life Gloria (Streeter) Dykes the couple shared 32 wonderful years together.
Willie was employed in maintenance with the Niagara Falls Board of Education, where he dedicated 20 years of service before retiring in 2009. He was known for his strong work ethic, warm smile, and a steady presence.
A man of faith, Wille accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized. His life was grounded in family and love. He found great joy in spending time with his loved ones, attending family events. and traveling south to visit relatives. He also had a love for blues music watching Family Feud and enjoying peaceful moments at home with his wife.
In addition to his devoted wife Gloria, Willie is survived by his stepchildren: Hope Streeter, Joseph Streeter, Wesley (Nicola) Streeter, and Lester Streeter; his cherished grandson, Cashmere Gayle, with whom he shared a special bond; many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Mary (Henry) Lovett, Frances (Willie Earl) Jenkins, Lora Jean (William) Whiteside, and Junior Lewis (Annabelle) Rogers, will continue to honor his memory, along with two special uncles Jessie Lewis Dykes, and Larry Dykes. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Willie was preceded in death by his siblings, Lura Dykes Clausell and Phillip Dykes and a step granddaughter Camille Streeter Gayle.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 2 from 10 AM - 11:30 AM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304 followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
