Yvonne (Poirier) Mangan, 74, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Born in Rochester, NY she was the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Sullivan) Poirier.
Yvonne was raised in Rochester, NY and attended Marywood University in Scranton, PA where she received Bachelor of Science Degrees in chemistry and math. On June 27, 1959, she married Gerald P. Mangan in Rochester, and moved to the Niagara Falls area where they have resided until the present time. Yvonne worked as a math instructor at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, NY. She was a former member of the Service League, St. Francis Guild and Whirlpool Mother's Club. Yvonne was an avid reader. She also loved to cook, and especially enjoyed sharing recipes with her family and friends. Most of all, Yvonne loved spending time with her family and cherished the times they spent at their cottage in Sodus Bay, NY.
In addition to her husband of fifty three years, she is survived by her four children, Michele (Bernie) Bauman of Williamsville, NY, Jerry Mangan, Yvonne (Richard) DeMarco, and Renetta Rolling all of Niagara Falls, NY, and was predeceased by one son George Mangan on December 11, 1989. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, John Bauman, Michele Bauman, Sherri Bauman, George Bauman, Jessica DeMarco, Jennifer DeMarco, Richard DeMarco, Jerry Rolling, Patrick Rolling and Tim Rolling, her nieces, Christine (David) Palmiere of Rochester, NY and Renee (Sean) Hickman of Colorado, her beloved dog and companion Duchess as well as several other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by one brother Ret. Col. Jack Poirier.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL 2730 MILITARY ROAD NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday September 8th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Parish corner of College and Macklem Avenues, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Joseph Augustyn officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
