Zenia (D'Andrea) Schiro, 94, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on July 3, 2016 at Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Zenia was born on March 31, 1922 in Williamsburg, PA to Angelo and Angelina (Martini) D'Andrea.
Zenia attended local schools graduating from the former Trott Vocational High School. On October 12, 1946 she married Paul F. Schiro at St. Joseph Church. Paul predeceased her on March 7, 1990. For many years, Zenia was employed at Levy Brother's Furniture Store until a fire caused the store to close. She then worked at DiCamillo's Bakery on Linwood Avenue in Niagara Falls until her retirement to spend more time with her grandchildren, Roger and Alyssa.
Zenia enjoyed being with her family and was well known for her baking of chicken in wine, pies and cookies. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to her family as well as those she met.
Zenia is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Edwin) Funk of Youngstown, NY and Paula Schiro of Massillion, OH; her grandchildren, Laraine Funk of Surrey, B.C., Canada; Roger (Tracy Williams) Gutierrez of Folsom, CA and Alyssa (William) Funk Crane of Berkeley, CA; great grandchildren Beau Wenger, Jamie Wenger, Brock Wenger of Navarre, OH and T. Paulie Gutierrez of Folsom, CA; sisters-in-law Dorothy (late Henry) Schiro; Mamie (late Charles) Chiarenza; Rose (late Rocky) Meranto and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren Rachel Metz-Wenger and Ronal Metz, Jr.; her siblings and spouses Joseph (Esther) Taddie, Lillian (Mario) DeMarchi, Arnold (Mary) D'Andrea, Sylvia (Joseph) Metro, Inez (Anthony) Caraglin. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Fannie (John) Amato, Thomas (Anne) Schiro and Joseph (Mary) Schiro.
The family would like to thank the staff of Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center and Fairchild Manor for the care and compassion they demonstrated to Zenia and her family.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 3 – 7 p.m. at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 8th at 12 noon at Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Stewart Lindsay, O.S.F.S. officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Flowers are gratefully declined.
